The process for making a Power of Attorney in the Emirate of Dubai is rather simple. It is important that the Power of Attorney is prepared in accordance with the applicable requirements and your intentions to clarify that the powers mention in the POA are exactly what you intend to pass on to your attorney/agent. That said, the process for making the power of attorney can be summarized in the following 5 simple steps:

1. Prepare a draft of Power of Attorney

First step is to prepare the draft of the power of attorney in English language. 2. Arabic Translation

The second step in preparing the power of attorney in Dubai is to have the draft translated into Arabic language. The translation must be a legal translation carried out by a licensed legal translator in the Emirate of Dubai. Without such translation, the Notary Public will not accept the power of attorney for the signing. We ensure that the power of attorney is translated by the legal translators who are duly license and certified by the UAE Ministry of Justice.

3. Printing three (3) originals of the power of attorney

Once the English draft is approved by you and the legal translation has been completed, the power of attorney is printed in three (3) originals and stamped by the legal translators to as evidence that the translation has been carried out by the certified legal translators. The power of attorney is printed in three originals as a matter of practice and requirement by the Notary Public.

4. Signing and Notarizing in the Notary Public

Once the power of attorney has been printed and handed over to you, you will need to visit the nearest Notary Public in order to sign the power of attorney. The Notary Public is a part of a court function and sits in various offices around the city. We can provide you location of the nearest Notary Public based on your convenience. Once you visit the Notary Public, you will need to obtain a token to sign the power of attorney in the presence of the Notary Public who will then register the power of attorney in the records of Dubai Court. The Notary Public will keep one original for the court records and return two originals to you. You can keep one original with you had provide one original of the power of attorney to your attorney for the relevant years.

5. Fee payable to the Notary Public

The government fee that is payable to the Notary Public in the Emirate of Dubai for general and special powers of attorney is AED 267. This fee shall be payable at the time of signing of the power of attorney at the Notary Public.
